The quality of human and technical resources is the key to success. Our people at Altus Expertise are qualified, versatile and have acquired substantial experience through their personal and professional use of rope access techniques.

Pierre Bergeron, pioneer

Pierre began working with rope access techniques in 1984 at the Daniel Johnson Dam (Manic V). In 1986, at the request of Hydro-Québec and his employer, he prepared the first professional internships in speleological rope access techniques and helped set in motion the first courses in this field.

Career summary
A civil engineering technologist since 1992, Pierre has worked in areas such as materials testing, site supervision and inspection. Since the creation of Altus Expertise in 1994, he has carried out inspections of steel, concrete and stone structures, mostly for companies and property owners in the Montréal region, as well as those in Algeria, the United States and New Brunswick.

Instructor
A specialist in training, Pierre has helped members of the Société québécoise de spéléologie achieve a high level of technical proficiency. He has worked tirelessly to provide professional training in rope access techniques to personnel – at private companies, government agencies and para-public organisations – working on various high-rise structures and buildings.

Pierre gained his experience and expertise in rope access techniques and logistics, and developed his teamwork skills and adaptability, largely through perseverance and his work on numerous personal projects overseas. Since 1975 he has organised and led mountaineering and speleological expeditions in countries such as Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Nepal, Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Tibet and many others. These experiences have instilled in him a strong concern for efficiency and safety and bear witness to his ability to manage groups of people and his remarkable skill at organising special projects.
